Our 2.5 acres Stone's Throw vineyard is a historic treasure.  Planted in the late 1960s
and grafted to a Wente clone in the late 1970s, our vines are some of the oldest Chardonnay vines in the Napa Valley.

The 2010 offering of our Stone's Throw Block Chardonnay maybe our best release to
date. The wine exhibits the classic “Wente” nose with citrus, clementine, pear, lime zest, hints of lychee and floral notes. The palate shows vibrant and balanced acidity that merges with a stylistic minerality (we do not use malolactic fermentation for our Chardonnay).  The wine shows a hint of sweet oak and creamy yeasty notes that come from barrel fermentation sur lie and aging for 10 months in 30% new French oak.   We produced just 140 cases of this wine.

In 1912, a member of the Wente family took cuttings from the University of Montpellier in France and brought it to the US. The clone known for its distinctive citrus and Muscat aromas is responsible for 80% of all Chardonnay in the US.
