Cabernet Sauvignon

Matthew’s Block celebrates the 2nd generation of our family farming on Pritchard Hill.  The vineyard was a childhood playground for Matt who has gone on to study viticulture and has worked in all aspects of our business.

Our 2009 offering shows a distinctive cherry profile and typifies the concentrated wines that hail from the rocky slopes of Pritchard Hill.   Blended from Clone 7 and Clone 337 Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine’s dark cherry, currant, cassis and sweet oak tones carry
form the nose through into the palate.   The intense fruit is framed by a very sturdy and age worthy tannin structure, a reflection of our rugged vineyard site. Winemaker Jeff Fontanella extended barrel aging to 30 months to add a touch of creaminess to the length and finish of this beautiful wine.

Our 2009 Matthew's Block Cabernet Sauvignon's brix ranged from 26.8 to 27.9 .  The wine spent 20 days on the skins before resting for 30 months in French oak.  We bottled just 125 cases.
